CeraLyte Oral Electrolyte Solution
Beverage Prevents and Corrects Dehydration

Two new flavors, single-serving packs available now

Jessup, MD, December 1, 1999--CeraLyte, a low-cost, rice-based oral rehydration solution (ORS) designed to prevent and correct dehydration is available now in two new flavors, and in convenient single-serving packets.

Dehydration due to diarrhea, fever, and sweat loss from exercise or heat stress makes people feel weak and shaky. For travelers, diarrhea can ruin a trip. Oftentimes, dehydration is a more serious problem for people with some chronic conditions like AIDS, cancer, Crohn's, or other gastrointestinal problems such as short bowel.

Many deaths and hospitalizations related to dehydration due to diarrhea are preventable with ORS. ORS replaces fluids with a solution that approximates body fluid composition.

Sugary drinks or juices may increase fluid losses, but, just like water or tea, do not have the right amounts of electrolytes to replace what the body needs. CeraLyte oral rehydration electrolyte solution is scientifically formulated by medical experts to restore body fluid and blood volume balance, naturally. Since it is based on complex carbohydrates, CeraLyte provides enhanced absorption.

"Our product has a lot of benefits," according to Charlene Dale-Riikonen, President, Cera Products, Inc. "CeraLyte works fast. It delivers the electrolytes the body needs quickly. Just add Wildberry or Terrific Orange flavored CeraLyte powdered beverage mix to hot or cold water for a drink, and in no time it helps people feel better.

"CeraLyte is easy to mix and use. The new single-serving size is easy to carry and store. And, CeraLyte is fat-free too!" Dale-Riikonen continued, "We wanted to make our products better by offering CeraLyte in a smaller, more convenient size. And, we added two new flavors to our line of products to give people more choices."

For cancer patients, CeraLyte can help patients tolerate blood tests, insertion of needles for chemotherapy, and prevents dehydration if diarrhea becomes a problem.

According to one Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patient of 14 years, CeraLyte makes her feel better when she starts to feel dizzy and weak. "The CeraLyte seems to help me bounce back faster."
And, a group of missionary doctors lead by a physician from Johns-Hopkins University used CeraLyte everyday on a recent trip to Uganda. They called CeraLyte "resurrection fluid".

Not only did CeraLyte prevent the doctors from fainting from the sweat loss and diarrhea they had been experiencing. But, with this ORS these physicians were able to help the village children who were so weak from diarrhea they just leaned listlessly against the trees. After CeraLyte, the children were able to walk home.

The CeraLyte packets keep at room temperature for 2 to 3 years, and are available also in natural, lemon, and chicken broth flavors. The natural version can be sweetened by adding flavored water or even gelatin to make a dessert. The 2 ounce packets cost about $1.50 each and make a full liter
(4 1/4 cups) of solution. A special informational packet, including recipe booklet and instructions comes with each order.
