By the end of the bike, competitors Cunningham, Fleischmann, Bell, and Cigana started the run within seconds of each other. Averaging just over 5:30 per mile, Cunningham ran his way to the title ahead of Fleischmann and a fast-running Alessandro Degasperi. "The swim was easy but the rest of the race was hard. The bike is constant ups and downs. Greg Bennett rode hard, it was a tough battle and it took me the entire ride to catch up with him." said, Cunningham who finished the race in 3 hours, 48 minutes, 55 seconds.

The 2010 Ironman 70.3 Longhorn is an official qualifier for the 2011 Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3. It entails a 1.2 mile freshwater swim in Decker Lake; a 56 mile scenic loop bike course through rolling Texas farmland; concluding in a 13.1 mile run through Walter E. Long Park, along the shores of Decker Lake. The event awards forty-six (46) age-group qualifying slots and four (4) professional qualifying slots for the Clearwater event.
