Congratulations to Mirinda Carfrae for New Course Run Record at KONA!!! Contact: Jennifer Rapp,Director of Marketing, 410-309-1000, marketing@ceraproducts.us Columbia, MD - CeraSport professional triathlete, Mirinda Carfrae, surpassed amazing odds on her first full ironman race, managing to set a new course run record at 2:56:51, at the Kona World Championships on October 10, 2009. Carfrae came from 9th place starting the run but made up so much time on the run that she finished with an impressive 2nd place win. Chrissie Wellington took first place at 8:54:02, beating out Paul Newby Fraser's 17 year old course record, and Spaniard Virginia Berasategui finished in third. "I used a mix of cerasport and EX1 with carbo pro on the bike and my tummy thanked me for it - I didn't get any bloating or cramping throughout the whole race.. I think my nutrition on the bike was a key factor in enabling me to put together a great marathon off the bike." Mirinda Carfrae "We are so incredibly proud of Rinny. We call her "the little engine that can", and she proved that on this, her virgin race at Kona's Ironman. The temperature was nearly 96 degrees, plus there were high winds and a tough pro field to overcome, all of which were overwhelming for many but not Rinny! We were thrilled to see her pass 7 top women on the marathon portion of the race to achieve the new course record!" Charlene Riikonen, president Cera Products, Inc. As noted on her website, Mirinda enthusiastically supports CeraSport ORS, saying it gives her the hydration and energy to carry her through the long hauls of the 70.3 triathlons. She won 6 of 7 races this year in the 70.3 category and placed second in one. Siri Lindley, former pro triathlete and pro coach for Mirinda, had Rinny training with CeraSport and other nutrition issues in hot climates and mountains in the months leading up to Kona. This training served her well during Kona. | ||
