Powerlifting is a strength event consisting of three events: the bench press, the dead lift, and the squat. Lifters compete in categories according to their weight, with the maximum weight lifted in each event totaled for a final score. A strenuous sport, powerlifting is becoming more popular every year.

This sport gained the interest of Dr. Edward Dudley-Robey. He had lifted most of his life, but didn’t really get into the sport until a friend introduced him to the Powerlifting world record holder, Scot Mendelson. After a few years training with Mendelson, Dudley-Robey won the 2007 California Powerlifting State Champion.

No stranger to athletics Dudley-Robey is board certified in naturopathic sports medicine, as well as an expert in integrative medicine and a licensed Naturopathic physician. He is also a recent graduate, and 2007 class valedictorian, from University of Science, Arts and Technology medical school.

It was through his medical background that he discovered the product, CeraSport. Developed along with physicians at Johns Hopkins, CeraSport’s rice-based formula is easier for the body to absorb than sugar-based drinks and provides sustained delivery of energy, water and electrolytes. Many lifters drink CeraSport after purposely dehydrating themselves to drop weight before weigh-in. Since it absorbs quicker then any other sugar-based drink, lifters are able to rehydrate, regain their strength, and be ready for competition faster.

Dudley-Robey recently won the Bronze medal in bench press in the 181 pound class at the 2007 American Powerlifting Federation Senior National Championships. This win qualified him for the 2007 World Powerlifting Congress in Togliatti, Russia October 29th through November 5th. CeraSport wishes Team USA the best of luck, as well as good hydration at the 2007 World Powerlifting Congress!

Terry Acosta started powerlifting a year ago, and has already placed 2nd in the 181 lb. class at the USA Powerlifting Junior Nationals. Dropping 3-4 pounds the night before, Acosta rehydrated with CeraSport and broke the federation’s record for the dead lift by lifting 645 lbs. Using CeraSport during training six days a week, Acosta is training for the next USA Powerlifting Junior Nationals.

CeraSport restores fluids and electrolytes the body needs helping to maintain optimal athletic performance. Remaining well hydrated is the way to athletic success. CeraSport wishes Terry Acosta good luck, as well as good hydration, at the next Junior Nationals!
